It’s a common question, and I’ve been asked it twice this week already.  “Any plans for holidays?”

Not everyone can afford to take long holidays, but even a long weekend at home can be a much needed respite from the pressures of work, or getting out of the city into the countryside can help reinvigorate us.

But there’s also something about the planning and the anticipation that is important – these help get us looking forward to a break, and this helps lift our mood and gives us a sense that something better is round the corner.

So enjoy being asked the question and enjoy thinking about your breaks through the year.  It can be so easy to be so busy with work that when the holiday arrives, you spend the first half winding down and the second half feeling like it’s nearly over.  The days, weeks and even months before a holiday can be just as important in terms of psychological preparation, as the holiday itself.

So… any plans for holidays this year?
