Alistair is a highly experienced Chartered Psychologist, Chartered Scientist and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and an accredited counsellor and psychotherapist by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). He is also a UKCP registered psychotherapist and is registered as a psychotherapist with the General Psychotherapy Council (GPsyC).
He is a Senior Practitioner on the BPS Register of Psychologists Specialising in Psychotherapy. Alistair is an editor of the European Journal for Qualitative Research in Psychotherapy. Alistair has also been author and contributor to many published articles.
Alistair’s training and experience encompasses working within the NHS, private practice, and working with Employee Assistance Providers (EAP) where the focus is on enhancing individuals’ well-being within the workplace.
Trained both as a psychologist and psychotherapist Alistair draws on a wide knowledge of approaches that can offer support to individuals facing difficult challenges, including CBT. He firmly believes in the uniqueness of individuals and their capacity to improve their own well-being when provided with appropriate understanding and support.
He has extensive experience in working with such significant issues as anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, sexual abuse, post-traumatic stress (e.g. PTSD around fatal accidents, suicide) and work-based occupational health problems. Alistair also has experience in supporting those who may be thinking of leaving or have already left a particular sect or high-pressure belief group.
Alistair is experienced in assessments for producing medico-legal reports for individuals who have suffered traumatic events such as road traffic accidents, assault and personal injury accidents.
Alistair offers a reduced rate for self-funding clients (£100 assessment, thereafter £90 per session). Insurance-funded and organisation-sponsored rates available on request. He works with the following insurers - AXA, Vitality Health, WPA, Cigna and Aviva. Alistair's usual clinic days are Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays.
